Perfect way to revitalize a pair of my many thrifted mom jeans in my closet? Cut them, add a little fray and boom, you have a new pair of wide leg cropped denim. When I’m in the mood to add some new trends into my closet (without committing to an expensive alternative) I either a) alter something already owned in my closet -or- b) try and find something close to it at the thrift store. Both have usually turned out in my favor but the recent trend of slightly cropped loose fitting denim really had me going. I had a pair of gap thrifted denim in my closet that just hadn’t been pulled out recently mainly because the fit was a little too baggy for my liking right now plus having to cuff them made the pants feel a lot heavier (unless wearing heels). I figured if I wanted to try out the cropped trend plus rework a pair of jeans I wasn’t loving anymore why not give it a go? I highly recommend shopping at your local Goodwill to find a pair of “mom” jeans. Also be sure to not only check the Women’s sections but a lot of times the mens area has the perfect straight cut loose fitting styles you’ll love. Again, if the length isn’t doing it for you either cuff the hem or just chop them right off. I swear you’ll love the results, especially if the jeans fit you perfectly. Don’t always judge by your typical pant size number either, a lot of times I can grab a size thats 1 or 2 larger than normal and get the same if not better results. I repeat, try it on, try it on, try it on!!
So back to my look, I paired my new wide leg cropped denim with an oversized button up from Urban Outfitters and some classic white sneakers. Also can’t forget my new bag which is my pride and joy from JCOS Studios. I love the classic design and pristine craftsmanship and yes, it does look shockingly similar to the Celine bag we all adore…but I must say for a fraction of the cost you really get the best of both worlds.
