Lavender Coat & Floral Dress

As you know that I have a THING for lavender and lilac and since it’s been making such an appearance in fashion I’m very thankful to see these kind of pieces popping up. I decided to go with a more feminine high fashion look for today with this lilac purple overcoat and floral midi dress paired with some really cool glitter scrunch knee-high boots. I have recently been seeing more maxi/midi dresses paired with knee high or over the knee boots and I’m a big fan. I really love being able to add a cool printed, colorful, or texturized boot with a simple midi skirt or dress to give you that romantic winter look. I can definitely see this look recreated with more subtle color choices since I know a big lilac coat can be a little intimidating. I will say though that layering a larger coat on top of a flowy midi dress helps add some weight to the dress while giving you a little shape. Sometimes I feel like I can get lost in flowy maxi dresses unless they come with a belt that I can cinch. I also love how the skirt is JUST long enough to peak out from under the coat while also giving you ample WOW factor with the glitter boots. I knew I had to keep these around for a reason.

It’s a little challenging when you live in a 2 bedroom home with somewhat small closet space to be able to maintain a “bloggers” closet. I have to say that I re-evaluate my wardrobe about once a month, moving items out of my “everyday” closet and into my secondary closet. From there it’s the continuous struggle as to what I keep and what moves along. I want to disclose that I absolutely love every piece that I receive. On occasion bloggers do get product that wasn’t requested or chosen for them. Usually I can find a way to make things work as I find it a challenge, but there really are just instances when it doesn’t fit the bill. I used to be the biggest hoarder of clothes keeping items back from my high school days just on the “off chance” that it comes back into style. What I had to quickly learn was that even if things do come back into style it’s more likely than not that you are going to want a newer more updated version of that pieces. The same goes for getting rid of items. My mom has a hard time letting go of old clothing because she of course takes care of her items. Giving it away after only a year might seem insane but if you aren’t getting joy from that item (this goes for anything in your possession) then it’s time to move on. If you did receive joy from it at some point the item in question lived it’s purpose in your possession. I love the idea of reselling my clothes and donating it for the sole purpose that I know it’s going to go to a home where someone will use and appreciate it. There’s no point in having something sit around in my closet hoping that I’ll wear it while also giving me major anxiety about running out of hangers and having piles of clothes everywhere. What I will say to everyone who has trouble cleaning out their own closets is that you should stop yourself at every piece and say:

1. When is the last time I wore this?
2. If I were to wear it again, come up with 3 outfits on the spot in your head that you’d actually wear.
3. Is this something staple that will be relevant in the next six months? Or is it a trendy piece?
4. DOES IT BRING YOU JOY (or does the thought of whether you keep it or not stress you out. In that case I’d recommend just moving it along)
