It’s funny, I’m coming up on my third wedding anniversary and actually the first wedding I had gone to before that was my dads just a few years prior. It’s so crazy how you hit a point in your life and everyone else seems to be either right ahead or right behind you. I can now understand what people mean when they say it’s “wedding season”. I’ve since then been to about 7/8 or so weddings and am adding 2 more to that total once summer ends. One problem I have when I am going to a wedding is that I’m constantly dressed up on the daily that I actually kind of dread finding something to wear! People might assume that because I blog and have all these clothes that putting together a wedding guest outfit is easy..let me tell you that it really isn’t. Every time I attend a wedding I tend to overthink what I should wear. Am I too dressy? Am I too casual? Does having some white in the print of my dress going to offend the bride? The list goes on.
My other problem is that I actually have mostly casual clothes (not many dresses) that can’t really transition to “dressy” or if they can, they are white (of course). As I’ve been getting older and dealing more regularly with an overflowing closet I’ve really appreciated quality brands that focus heavily on the silhouette/fit of their pieces versus the quantity in their collections. Recently I’ve become obsessed with Rouje, a French label started by Jeanne Damas. Every piece in her collection is feminine, sexy, and can easily be transitioned from casual to dressy with a few styling tweaks. I picked up the Gina Dress as well as the Renee skirt and am so happy with the fit. Everything sits perfectly on me and being someone who has very minor curves (very minor) it’s nice to feel like you have some when the clothing actually fits you appropriately.
Ok so back to wedding guest attire. I’ve learned from past experiences that having some key dresses in your closet that can be worn to weddings are CRUCIAL. When you have a handful of weddings per year I’m definitely not a fan of purchasing a one time use dress and then either donating it or giving it to friends almost immediately after. I honestly just don’t get out much haha. I’m also just as guilty as everyone else for wanting a fresh looking outfit for all occasions. Each dress selected above has a great ability for multi-use either being worn casually with a jacket thrown over or with some tennis shoes OR to wear to any upcoming nuptials. Cheers to wedding season!
