Cooler Shorts for Summer

I’m a little bit on the safe side when it comes to shorts. I usually stick to high waisted denim Levi’s beauties (and there’s nothing wrong with that) but I really want to embrace some new, updated, and basically cooler shorts for summer. There are so many options out there and whether they are denim, or linen, or faux leather, there are a lot of ways to create a really easy summer outfit. I received these killer shorts from River Island that feature a paper bag waist, longer hemline and a denim tie at the waist. I’m leaning a lot more towards longer hemlines for my shorts mainly for comfort purposes but I think having a somewhat longer hemline makes it really easy to balance your outfit when you throw on a crop top. This crop top in particular really caught my eye since it reminded me of those weird popcorn tops from back in the day, plus I love the cut and the dual colors. I have to say I received a good number of compliments on it!

I’m hoping to expand my shorts game this summer since I’m already on a skirt and dress kick I think spicing up my summer wardrobe this year is heavy on my list. I guess I never realized it but I’m not a huge summer dresser. I work in an office all day and usually it’s freezing so I lean towards jackets and pants even in the dead of June. This year has been significantly different for me, from leaning towards dresses to fitted skirts to cute short options I”m really liking where my wardrobe is headed. It’s also great when I start thinking about any sort of Summer travels and that I’ll ACTUALLY be prepared for once haha. Having a great fall wardrobe year round is great until you realize it’s going to be 80 degrees for a week and you are forced to be outside.
