NYFW Spring 2019

NYFW Spring 2019

Another NYFW in the bags for this girl and I can’t really explain how grateful I am for these experiences. It was always a dream of mine to attend fashion week in New York and to say this is my third is unbelievable to me. This year I traveled with my good friend Taylr and her sister (best travel partners ever btw) and we decided to stay the entire week instead of our usual 3-4 day turnaround. Committing to 7 days in the city seems like a dream but I always forget how tiring both physically and mentally Fashion Week can really be. I was so grateful to be able to spend time with fellow bloggers/influencers that I normally don’t get to spend much time with but I also noticed that a lot of my fellow friends were feeling really down or not themselves in their trips. I can’t say I necessarily disagree, a lot of times you can feel overwhelmed by throwing yourself not only into the city that never sleeps, but into the more fast paced and competitive environment that is fashion. You can’t help but compare yourself to others or feel pressured to have an outfit good enough to get street style photographers attention. Aside from these pressures I always have to remind myself why I’m there, I genuinely enjoy being able to preview collections and write about them! I was luck enough to attend a ton of shows that I personally feel connections with and so it was cool to see what is trending and up and coming for Spring. We were also able to sneak in a few fun adventures like thrifting in Williamsburg Brooklyn, a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and an emotional visit to the 9/11 memorial. With that, I’ll give you a brief recap of my NYFW Spring 2019 trip per day via this photo diary. Hope you enjoy!

Day 1

Shopbop NYFW 2019

Stretched Velvet Ruffle Top – ShopBop | Natural Paulina Pant – Roberta NY | Willow Cream Strappy Sandals – Intentionally Blank | Morning Bag – Neuville

Was super excited for Day 1 which included us arriving around 7:30am after a redeye and going straight to our hotel to get ready for a 1pm show, Colina Strada. I always love the colors and silhouettes that she creates and for Spring I could really feel an airy and light mood contrasted by vibrant colors. We took a little breather at Cha Cha Matcha as it was SO HOT that day and got to experience being in the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio. We ended the night heading to the ShopBop Diner party which was INSANE. So poppin with free drinks, a free merch area and of course killer tunes by their DJ. We danced the night away and grabbed some pasta on the way home.

Day 2

NYFW Spring 2019

Look 1: Coco Loco Cute Top – Free People | Levis – Vintage | Jessica Slide – ABLE | Mini Phoebe Bag – Danse Lente |

Look 2: Red Leopard Suit Trousers – Topshop | Petite Short Sleeve Scallop Crop Top – Topshop | Belle Sandal in Caramel – Charlotte Stone |

Day 2 brought a little more relaxation for us since we only had a show at 4pm. We decided to not overly book ourselves during this trip and especially since we were staying uptown (not always the best choice but you make it work!) it was taking us a lot longer and more $$ for travel so we tried to plan accordingly. We had a slow morning catching up on sleep and heading down to our favorite restaurant Epistrophy for brunch. My look was super casual and it was nice to just feel comfortable amidst all the fashion week chaos. Afterwards we swung over to the LDS show which I didn’t get many good photos at due to how dark the venue was but it was by far the most out there of the shows we went to. A lot of oversized hoodies, reworked denim pieces and of course sheer tops / dresses (which were included in almost every show we saw). We ended the night back at Epistrophy for dinner and snapped a few photos on my disposable cam.

Day 3 & 4

NYFW Spring 2019

Look 1: Snake print tshirt – Zara | Snake Print Pants – Zara | Clo Mini Leather Jacket – The Arrivals | Manhattan Western Boot – Jeffrey Campbell | Tiger Square Black – Chimi Eyewear

Look 2: Fringe Denim Shirt – Zara | Plaid Trousers – Zara | Manhattan Western Boot – Jeffrey Campbell |

Day 3 & 4 were a whirlwind in themselves. We started off day 3 at the R13 show which was INCREDIBLE. One of my favorites by far. We saw a ton of trends for the “accidental vacationer” look with board shorts, tie dye prints, and of course, BUCKET HATS. Since we were in Brooklyn for the show we grabbed lunch at Sunday in Brooklyn (so good by the way) and ended the night at the Priscavera show which never disappoints. While their pieces are a lot edgier I always adore how bright their color palettes are. My look for the day was a full snakeskin outfit by Zara with my Arrivals leather jacket on top. I also went for a more bold shoe choice with some white cowboy boots which were perfect for the shifting weather we kept experiencing.

Day 4 was a bit of a slower day (see how we go from busy to slow starts? haha, all about balance) that started off with breakfast and a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was pouring rain that day so we had to get umbrellas out front of the museum. Afterwards we headed back downtown to the Sandy Liang presentation that was held at a Chinese restaurant. I absolutely loved the feminine silhouettes, sheer fabrics, leopard print and of course BUCKET HATS haha. I was so close to getting a second hand Burberry hat prior to the trip but time and money got the best of me.

Day 5

NYFW Spring 2019

Ivy Gingham Top – Free People | Sporty Uptown Girl Blazer – Free People | Wide Leg Purple Pants – H&M | Terracotta Leather Wrap Belt – Free People

Day 5, another torrential downpour for us! I wasn’t sure how to rework my outfits to handle the rain considering I brought 0 jackets with me but I stuck to my original plan of this purple pant look with a yellow blouse and just threw on my blazer with a belt over it. While it wasn’t my initial plan it still ended up looking cool! We started the morning at the Bevza show at Spring Studios and I have to say this was my favorite show by far for the entire trip. Each piece was so beautifully constructed and had a classic element that could stand the test of time. Even the sandals had me shook, I was instantly transported to a fictional European vacation haha.

Day 6 & 7

NYFW Spring 2019

Look 1: Vintage Levis Jacket – Borrowed | Vintage Levis Mid Length Shorts – Awoke Vintage | Genesis Raglan Band Tee – Thrifted |

Look 2: Green short sleeve knit shirt – COS | Green Culotte Trousers – COS | Palma High Sandal Flame Glitter – Maryam Nassir Zadeh (on sale) | Mini Phoebe Bag – Danse Lente |

Look 3: Aries Satin Belted Midi Skirt – Nanushka | Kaden Satin Tshirt – Nanushka | Palma High Sandal Flame Glitter – Maryam Nassir Zadeh (on sale) |

These last 2 days were a complete whirlwind, on Day 6 we were able to sit front and center for the French Connection show that was held at the High Line Hotel. Beautiful setup and a beautiful artist serenading us. We ended the evening out at a not so conventional presentation by Assembly New York at a really chic bar downtown. Their jackets and again, bright color palettes had me at hello.

Our final day consisted of one of my most anticipated shows and presentations and the main reason we decided to stay the entire leg of the trip. Maryam Nassir Zadeh had some amazing pieces that included a lot of biker shorts and again, bright colors. The Nanushka presentation was our final stop and included nothing but gorgeous silhouettes, subtle leopard prints, baby blues and bright fuchsias to end the night with.
