We’ve been seeing the influx of “dad sneakers” for the past year or so but recently it seems like there’s just been more of a blurred line between activewear and fashion. There are so many good pieces from Nike and New Balance that I’ve been really leaning towards recently. Aside from sweats becoming a new “going out” look there are so many cool t-shirts, sweatshirts, and sneakers adorning these logos that just seem to make an outfit chic vs. casual. Particularly people are incorporating elevated basics from these activewear brand and pairing them with things like blazers, long coats, designer bags and trousers to really make a stand out look. I think what I love the most about this is that if you are digging in your closet for something to wear it’s not necessarily a bad thing if you go for your most cozy, worn in piece in your closet.
I recently came across a few favorites that I felt the need to share so you guys can also get your shop on. I never really looked deeply into the clothing aspect of either brand (usually sticking to footwear) but now I’m 100% on board with throwing in a few pieces into an outfit to change things up. Nike really has been elevating their pieces so much as they now understand a lot of consumers are here for the brand itself (logo, branding, etc) and want to represent it in a way that isn’t strictly wearing workout clothes underneath their everyday wear.
One piece in particular that I picked up was this Nike high neck white t-shirt. I really loved that the sleeves were a big larger and the neckline was really flattering to layer under jackets. I also couldn’t help but fall in love with the Nike logo being directly in the center versus a left chest hit. When I shared this on Instagram it instantly got so many clicks and I knew it was something others had also been looking for. Overall the cut was really feminine but still stuck with the Nike energy we all are striving for.
A secondary love of mine has been New Balance sneakers. I got my first pair back in 2014 that I went back and forth on getting for weeks. I finally pulled the trigger and they were one of my favorite pairs of sneakers to wear. I regularly wore them with “styled” looks so for me it’s been awhile that I’ve been a fan. With more and more styles turning up I was so excited to see some classic sneakers getting a little bit of an upgrade. Not only that, but instead of just having the typical lifestyle sneakers as a popular style there are a lot more running style sneakers that have a really great appeal. I know a lot of runners will scoff at this but hey, I am all for having a multi use shoe!
