The Handbag Edit

December 23, 2020

It’s been a minute since I’ve rounded up some favorites so I wanted to take a moment for some handbags. I don’t have a ton of handbags that I rotate but have been learning to focus more on ones I’ll love for the long term. I’ve also brought some bags back into rotation that have had a bit of shelf life. That’s the plus of picking out good handbags that will stand the test of time. While I’ve been “investing” in bags more nowadays that generally means that the bags are a little pricier. I did want to make sure though that I space out my luxury, second hand, and more inexpensive bags that I absolutely love and use on the daily. Hopefully this helps bring some new brands to light as well as just some cool styles you might not have seen recently!

HVISK – Billow Nylon Bag

I absolutely love this bag by HVISK, best part is that it’s made from recycled nylon! It’s easy to wear everyday because you can easily wipe it clean. Also it is the perfect length for hanging on your shoulder and is super roomy inside. I’d definitely recommend this bag for those who like to carry a good amount in their bags but aren’t looking for a crossbody.

Coach – Beat Shoulder Bags

For a bag that’s good for going out (once that’s a thing again) or for more of a statement for a simpler outfit I definitely love this one from Coach. They’ve really upped their designs and I can say that I am a huge fan of all of their new pieces. The rivets and chains on this one is what really got me. It’s a great piece for wearing crossbody and giving you a bit of a hands free moment for running errands etc.

Rebag – Second Hand Luxury

I really love buying secondhand handbags. For one, there are so many almost brand new bags that are significantly discounted. One of my favorites I recently got that is pretty much my everyday bag is my Bottega Veneta hobo bag. It fits everything, is super soft and I get so many compliments on it! Rebag is a great site to find luxury handbags at great prices. Highly recommend checking here before you go into the stores! I think we often forget about purchasing second hand but it’s such a great way to find unique pieces from older seasons you might have slept on or they have sold out.

Simon Miller – Puffer Bag

I have to say that this puffer bag was something I picked up right at the beginning of quarantine. I hadn’t had a new handbag in awhile and I just needed something functional yet unique. I was happy this was available on Shopbop at the time and it’s been a wonderful everyday bag for me. The strap an be adjusted to be a crossbody or over the shoulder and it helps me limit carrying too much without limiting me a ton. I love the look of a puffy bag as well. You can hold them as a clutch and they always make an outfit instantly chic.

Prada Logo Tote

I don’t own a ton of new designer pieces but this Prada logo tote was a piece I knew I had to have. The silhouette is beautiful and it’s large enough to fit my necessities without going to overboard. I knew this would be a piece that would stand the test of time style wise and something about the simplistic design with emphasis on the logo plaque makes it suitable for all outfits. I have learned to control impulses to buy brand new designer pieces since more often than not you end up quick to love and then move on to the next thing. That being said I saved this piece on Farfetch, visited it in person in store and then used an online credit and sold some other pieces to I could purchase this one. I do not take these large purchases lightly but I do know when I make them I have to put a ton of thought into it and know that it’s either a piece with good resale value or something I can pause on for a bit but easily come back to.

Margi Gaba – Shoulder Bags

I’ve been a huge fan of Margi Gaba basically since their inception. They have a multitude of really unique shoulder bags that I had never seen before. The shapes and their materials have always stood out (I’m sure you guys have seen the cow print bag I used to wear 24/7). While I haven’t picked up one of their bags recently they sent me these 2 new styles that I’m in love with. I love the fold over flap and the patchwork design. I purchased my first bag from them and have been lucky to be gifted the next few but I will say it was definitely worth the money! They aren’t overly expensive either varying from $150 – $300. Supporting smaller brands like this is something I love and especially since I came across their page so organically.
